Beauty In The Red Dress

March 2026
Back to Poetry

You walked down that hallway

like you owned every quiet second in it.

Red dress speaking fluent confidence,

heels tapping Morse code to my chest.

And I'm not even staring at the fabric,

I'm studying the way you carry your name

like it's sacred.

Beauty in the red dress,

I didn't swipe right for a moment.

I swiped with intention.

Purpose in my thumb.

Clarity in my spirit.

Not lust.

Not boredom.

Not "let's see where this goes."

I swiped because something in your eyes

looked like home.

I'm home in who I am.

And this,

this is where love is at.

Not the loud kind.

Not the performative kind.

But the kind where ordinary turns extraordinary

because two people decide

to be intentional.

You in that red dress?

That's confidence.

But I'm more intrigued by the woman inside it.

The thoughts behind your silence.

The way you guard your heart like it's fine art.

Let me be clear,

I'm not here to break in.

I'm here to knock.

Wait.

And earn entry.

Because intentional means

you don't sit on the edge of my heart,

you sit in the middle.

Centerpiece.

Where everything circulates.

Where decisions are made.

Where love isn't borrowed,

it's built.

I want to know what makes you laugh

when no one's watching.

What keeps you up at night.

What you prayed for and almost gave up on.

Beauty in the red dress,

I'm not chasing a fantasy.

I'm choosing a future.

And if you let me,

I won't just admire you,

I'll understand you.

Because love isn't a spark.

It's an experience.

And I'm here for the long conversation,

the inside jokes,

the growth,

the depth.

I'm home.

And if you're listening closely,

you might realize

you've just found where love lives.
