I Only See My Woman

Back to Poetry

I've seen temptation dressed loud,

seen it curve, pose, flex for the algorithm,

seen it shake rooms, flood timelines,

send mirror videos like invitations.

I've seen DMs pile up like noise.

Still..

I only see my woman.

Not distracted by what she got on

or what she showing.

Not impressed by how many eyes chase her

or how easy it is to get attention these days.

None of that pulls me.

Because when I'm locked in, I'm locked in.

Black men don't cheat,

undisciplined men do.

And I love mine too deep to be reckless with it.

Even when she irks me.

Even when we disagree.

Even when pride wants a turn at the mic.

I love her.

That doesn't change.

I only see my woman.

She listens past my words,

speaks to my spirit without raising her voice.

Her face tells the truth before her mouth does,

and it's usually encouragement.

She lifts me when the weight gets real.

Stands next to me when things get tight.

Doesn't disappear when it's inconvenient.

She's peace on good days

and steadiness on bad ones.

That's my woman.

Her loyalty is quiet but firm.

Her respect isn't conditional.

She stands with me, not over me, not against me.

We move like a team.

Win together.

Problem-solve instead of point fingers.

She brings warmth,

makes space feel like home.

And the real reason,

the reason above all the rest,

she gave me partnership.

Not convenience.

Not access.

Not just love.

Partnership.

So when the world throws temptation like it's normal,

when attention is cheap and loyalty is rare,

I don't have to look away.

Because I only see my woman.
