Intentional

I’m not here to play it cool
or pretend I stumbled into you by accident.
Nah… everything about you feels chosen,
like God whispered your name
before I ever spoke it.

When I say I’m intentional,
I mean I study the way your heart moves
the same way some men study the market,
I invest, I listen,
I show up on the days you don’t ask me to.

I want to make your heart smile,
not with grand gestures,
but with the small things,
the forehead touches,
the “text me when you get home,”
the “I got it, don’t worry,”
the quiet ease of being loved right.

When I see you…
I don’t just see a woman I’m dating.
I see Sundays in bed,
I see our fingers interlocked like a promise,
I see you in a white dress
and me trying to keep my composure
because I know I married peace.

I see you standing beside me in public,
complimenting my spirit
in ways no other woman ever could,
not with words,
but by the way you carry yourself
like you already know you’re mine
and I’m yours.

And I’m built for that.
To protect you,
to provide without you having to ask,
to guide us without dimming your shine,
to put you in your soft era
where your only job
is to breathe easy
and let me handle the rest.

This isn’t infatuation.
This is intention.
This is me choosing you
in the daylight,
in the storms,
in the quiet parts of life
where love either grows or withers.

And I want ours to grow
slow, steady, rooted.
Because when I look at you,
I don’t see “for now.”
I see future.
I see partnership.
I see a life that finally feels aligned.

And I want you to feel that too,
not through my words,
but through the way I love you.
Intentionally.
Every day.

  1. Since a friend shared your website with me, I sit down every morning to start my day in reading your poetry while having coffee. You give hope, the words you write are healing, someday I hope to meet you, just to share the things I experience reading your poetry.

  2. This isn’t just a poem, it’s a promise. ‘Intentional’ feels like what every woman hopes a man actually means.

    1. Girl.. That’s what I’m waiting on, this man paint that picture and walk you through it. It’s like he’s in my head writing that series.

  3. Bro, I was on your instagram and decided to click, I didn’t expect to read some of this, actually my wife and I read some. Congratulations, great work bro.

  4. You can feel the maturity in every line. This is how intention sounds when it’s real, not rushed, not performative.

  5. A lady wants to know.. We all want to know is this fiction, single or do you have a woman? Asking for my damn self.

  6. It’s rare to read something that feels both masculine and tender without trying too hard. This nailed it.

  7. Reading your poetry makes me reminisce of you visiting your family in Houston, always told you, you have love in Austin, here ready to give if you willing to receive.

  8. Le poem ishaya straight enhliziyweni 🔥 akukho pretending la. Intentional uthando lwangempela, umuntu uyayizwa le message.

  9. My friend says, every word you write she has experienced it, its not made up nor fabricated, pure at heart and you brought her nothing but peace. We need more men like you.

  10. I remember meeting you in College Park, never knew you were a writer, we just thought of you as silent and handsome. Love what you doing here.

  11. Guy… Guy, I came from instagram, followed for 7 years now and never knew you wrote poetry on this level. I am blown away. Loving You in Your Language is my favorite for now. I’ve frequently visited over the past two weeks, just in love with your work.

  12. By the way, this one left me breathless, this can’t be creative writing, you speaking to someone.

  13. Would like to book you for a Louisiana show, I know your family all over Louisiana. Please check your TikTok or IG dm

  14. Yoh 🔥 le words zinzima ngendlela enhle. Akusilo uthando lwe-talk kuphela, kuyabonakala ukuthi wena u-mean everything oyishoyo.
